Our Purpose

According to Data USA, in 2019, the largest demographic group living in poverty in Guilford County, NC were women ages 25-34 and the second largest demographic group living in poverty are women ages 18-24. A report in 2020 by My Future NC report, stated that on average, 67% of Guilford County School students enrolled in college, 78% return for the next year, but only 51% finishes college within 6 years. Another report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics from 2020 showed that high school graduates earn 39% less than those that graduate from college with a Bachelor’s Degree. Therefore, to address our community needs, The Legacy Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that is design to provide support and services to college-bound high school senior girls and mentor them until they reach the age of 25.The Legacy Foundation was birthed from our Founder. LaCrystal Davis' belief that: All young ladies, no matter their background, deserves an equal opportunity to achieve in life, be financially secure, and have financial means that will allow them to access elusive resources for their future children.
